Potential and Existing Tourism Products

     The island was given no name at first. It serves as a port of call for trade ships travelling from China to Southeast Asia destinations such as Singapore, Java, and various locations on the Malay Peninsula. Salt ships from Singgora (Southern Thailand) use the island as a stopover on their way to Kuala Terengganu. The island was given the name Perhentian Island since it is regularly used as a port of call for cruise ships. That is the island where ships come to a halt or rest before continuing their journey. Until now, the island is still used as a shelter for ships from strong winds and big waves.      Perhentian Island is covered in dense forest, offering a haven for wildlife such as animals, birds, insects, and reptiles that thrive in the island's habitat.
