     The island was given no name at first. It serves as a port of call for trade ships travelling from China to Southeast Asia destinations such as Singapore, Java, and various locations on the Malay Peninsula. Salt ships from Singgora (Southern Thailand) use the island as a stopover on their way to Kuala Terengganu. The island was given the name Perhentian Island since it is regularly used as a port of call for cruise ships. That is the island where ships come to a halt or rest before continuing their journey. Until now, the island is still used as a shelter for ships from strong winds and big waves.      Perhentian Island is covered in dense forest, offering a haven for wildlife such as animals, birds, insects, and reptiles that thrive in the island's habitat.   We picked the Ombak Dive Resort because we wanted a room that was more like a hotel than the cottages on the Perhentian Islands, which we had bad experiences with. The resort is well maintained, there are a large number of workers cleaning, they are all kind, and the room, which was on the first floor, was ideal. They only have WiFi at the café and at reception, and the password changes every day, but come on, it's not a big deal, because once you're there, you're disconnected from the rest of the world. If you buy a prepaid phone card on this side of the island, Pulau Kecil, make sure it's Xpax, Celcom's prepaid brand. At Ombak Resort, everything is in order. The staff is always cheerful and eager to help. Two snorkelling sessions went off without a hitch. There is something for everyone on the breakfast buffet, which has been meticulously prepared.
